BOOK REVIEW I am (Not) Nit a Loser

This story is really funny. It's spoken by and is about a boy (Barry Loser) who wanted to be in a shampoo advert because he thinks it will make him a star- it actually turns out to be for a nit shampoo. He goes to the audition with his friends and they win the audition, this sets the scene for all the action in the book.

Funny things happen all the time, like every time he jumps up and down with excitement Barry's trousers fall down and Barry imagines all sorts of strange things, like when the director of the advert gets cross and keeps blowing his cigar smoke in Barry's face creating a cloud of dark smoke and Barry imagines a giant director out in space (instead of the moon) blowing cigar smoke on the world. Every time the director is angry, there is a big black cloud of smoke at the same time!

There are crazy things and jokes on every page of this book, and the author changes the spellings of words to make them sound funny. For example.... smellchecked instead of spellchecked!

To cut a long story short, after the disappointing advert, Barry starts a campaign against hurting insects/bugs called GIVE A BUG A HUG. But he and his friend end up catching fleas and having to use the nit shampoo.

If you want to have a real laugh, this is the book to read.

book review on Monster Eyeballs

At Kate's school there was a nasty boy called Mark. Mark was nasty to Kate all play-times. Each day, he would say rude things to Kate and her best friend Amy. One day Amy got the chickenpox and Kate was very sad without her friend. I love the part in Kate's big brothers birthday party because Kate gets her own back on Mark in a game called monster eyeballs, but they are not really monster eyeballs, they are actually grapes! Mark is so scared that everyone was in hysterics. My favourite character is Amy because I had a friend in England called Amy and she was kind and helpful, also in the book Amy has fuzzy, sticky up hair! My favourite description in the book is: "Kate painted red spots on her face to look like she had the chickenpox." this was so funny as she was trying to trick her mum.

Gregor the Overlander / One Dog and His Boy

Here's Mr Gregg saying a little about Susan Collins' Gregor the Overlander:

And here, a little about Eva Ibbotson's One Dog and His Boy:

Alec Williams talks to Year 4

Alec Williams told us the story of The Unicorn and the Wish. Do you remember how the boy got all his wishes in one wish?

He also told us some riddles. Do you remember any of the answers?
What has a bottom at the top?
You go in one hole and come out of three holes, and when your in it you're ready to go out.
What gets wetter as it dries?

He also had eleven books to recommend to us. Which one do you like the sound of best?

He told us the story of the thief escaping from his cell, which relies on some words with two meanings.

Then there was the good thing - bad thing story to finish off. Do you remember it?

My favorite video games part 2

Castle Crashers is my favorite game so I'll carry on. We have now killed the ice king and his difficulty is very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very high. Here is a picture of him

We have also beaten the sweetcorn and here is a picture of him:

There is also Medusa and here is a picture of her:

We have also beaten necromancer and here is a picture of him!

We have also killed the painter and here he is! (I don't know if its a boy or not!)

Rome

By Maia

When we got to Rome by aeroplane, we went on to an extra big comfy car. When we went in our room in the B and B, I was surprised how the room was nice, there was a picture of the Colosseum.

The first full day:

In the morning we went to a café that sold croissants, then we started to walk to the Vatican. The Vatican is a building that has domes and where the very famous paintings are.

About the pictures:

When we got inside we could not talk at all…

They were made by Michelangelo. Here is where S.Peter was buried:

The next day:

This day we went to the old Roman remains, interesting.

When we arrived we gasped.

All the things that we saw were about 2,000 years old!

This is one of my best bits because it’s a racing place.

I can imagine being with a horse and running round with famous people looking at me.

They are not sure if it was a private one or a public one. What do you think it was?

This definitely my favourite part:

The seven Roman poles.

I love these because I like how they twirl up.

I always like to smooooth them!

Do you like them?

That same day I got my first ever double ice cream!

I had tiramisu and chocolate !

Does that sound nice!?

The third day:

First we went to the Colosseum, it was AMAZING !

In the Colosseum there was a full day of entertainment, the gladiaters, my favourite part was at the end.

Gladiators fought until one of them died when they did, they put sand over the blood.

Gladiators were mostly slaves.

Gladiators didn’t just fight people, also animals.

Here is where the animals were kept.

They had something a bit like cranes attached on a cage to pull them on stage.

More than 70,000 people watched animals dying and circus performances.

I’m glad that I’m not a gladiator, and you?

The fourth day:

This day we went to Pompeii.

Pompeii is a village near a volcano called Vesuvius and the sea.

It was buried under ash for almost 2,000 years.

This is one of my favourites, The Basilica.

It must have been a good one, do you think so?

Inside they judged if people had been bad or good.

Have you been good…?

I really like Pompeii because it felt that you were on holiday and walking down a new modern street!

Here is a person that could not get away. Archaeologists put plaster into the holes where the bodies were, and we can also see the pattern of the clothes! The bones had gone exept the skull and teeth.

This is when I pretended to serve food to Mum at an old snack bar. You can see where they kept the food in jars to keep it warm.

The fifth day:

We went to gardens and we took a little bike ride...

It wasn't any sort of bike…

It was four in one bike!

It was great fun being in the front, there was a fake steering wheel! Would you like to be there ?

Some times it was scary because there were people in the way and we had to go down hill. There was a really funny thing that we had to sometimes. Toby and I had to take turns to pull the back because we couldn't move!

It was hard work sometimes, I only did it once.

Would you like to do it? This was a funny bit, where I had to stop peddling! We didn't have that much room to go round the fountain!

The last day :

The last day we had less time because we had to leave at four o'clock.

We went up a hill and had a picnic. At the top of the hill there was a lovely view, we could see The Vatican where the Pope lives and all the things we did. Down at the end of the hill was a really nice fountain. We watched a bit of a Punch and Judy show. If you don’t know what Punch and Judy is, it’s a funny puppet show. Punch and Judy originally came from Italy, which is why the puppets look almost the same as the English ones. The problem was that I don’t understand Italian, it makes my head dizzy!
Though I can understand the voice expression. Do you like puppet shows?

About my souvenirs:

The first day I bought two things: a glass ornament with the Vatican on and a bear cake mould.

When I came back I made a cake with it and it was scrummy!

I've put the glass ornament on my desk and I look at it all the time.

The next day I bought a Roman sticker book and I've already done The Roman shops, The Romans at dinner time and the gladiators.

Would you have liked it? When I went to Pompeii I bought a book all about Pompeii that I’m going to tell you about at the end.

The last day I had a double ice cream with cream on top !!!

The book:

In this book I learned that when the smoke started to come out people escaped, but people thought that they would survive in their homes but they didn’t.

The day before the explosion the earth rumbled and buildings crumbled a bit but the Pompeiians were used to it because they had bad earthquakes sometimes. They died because of the heat and because ash burns your lungs.

When it happened it started exploding at ten o’clock in the morning.

Alice vs The Witch

Suddenly, I was attacked by the alien monsters and trapped!

“Hello my dear little child, how nice to see you again,” said a mean voice.

“You stole my favorite toy and put it in the bin and that is a lie, because you placed my puppy toy in the never find area. So you said you put it in the bin just to scare me. However I am a brave girl and I am not scared of anything. To you it means nothing, but to me it means a lot, because I got it when I was born from my grandma and grandpa before they died,” I said in a clear voice.

“Your grandma and grandpa are just stupid people,” said the witch.

“Now let me down from this trap.” I demanded.

“You are a little child, and I am the BIG witch queen, so I decide when you must go down -  which is right now. Let her down in this instant my little servants!” said the witch.

“Yes your majesty,” said the gummy, old aliens with large,
rusty ears.
Then they finally got me down. I was happy about that, yet I still had not recovered my puppy! So, I set off while the witch was talking to her servants in a strange voice.

Then I saw a Light Brown thing coming from a box. What could it be? I wondered.

I ran as quietly as I could and peeked inside the box and there was... My puppy toy!
I took it and hugged it for a long time, then took the witch’s telephone and called the police without her hearing me.

Finally, she was arrested and was sent to jail for ten years. The police asked if I wanted to be the owner of the witch’s palace and I said “no”, because I did not want to become a witch.

Then I went home with my puppy toy and we lived happily ever after.

The witch’s real name was

“The Witch of The Waste”.

The Heroes Of Altheas Introduction

So this is kind of like Pablo's Shyneert world except, less crazy and a bit more... serious.
Altheas (al-thee-as or al-thee-s) is a land where people have magical abilities that they could learn by reading spell books, but they each learn a single unique power at birth, and one for each person in their world! The people of Altheas eat pretty much the same things that we eat except more SPICY or SWEET. And they live in houses that look a lot like the houses in Pibrac but more... nice. Altheas is very peaceful and a luxury, machines that designs animals (in their land, there are no animals so they create them for forests, rivers, etc.), breezes that if you listen you could hear the secret music of nature, and LOLLIPOPS THAT CHANGE COLOUR EVERY SECOND AND TASTES OF VICTORY BERRIES (just joking!) (but seriously). Okay, enough about the world and let's get on with the plot, so the hero is a boy who helps his father who is a blacksmith. His name is Will Smith. The heroine of the story is his loyal guard puppy, Willow. She is shy but will try to do her best. The villain of the story is Lord Alastor. He wants to destroy the harmony in Altheas. But we all know...

So by the time I finish writing the first chapter, you should know all that stuff.

My Imaginary Friend

Before we begin, I'd like to tell you that I have lots of imaginary friends, and this one is the newest member.

My imaginary friend is a female spirit of a cat, though closely resembling a wolf. Her name is Eerie. She is a deep black with wisps of hazy purple smoke coming from behind her neck. Her eyes are a vague white and they glint red in the dark. She appears when I am scared because her smoke is a censor though sometimes I deliberately want to play with her. Eerie has the abilities to send nightmares to people and shape-shift into
Eerie in her Mega form
something that you most fear. She has two forms, her Normal form and her Mega form (she turns Mega when she fights something strong). It is not wise to upset her, as she also has a very nasty bite that burns or poisons, sometimes even paralyzing you!

Eerie usually eats anything, but as a treat, she likes to suck power from electronics so she could scare people! She is allergic to sugar. She is really lucky (if she's in a good mood) because she has a special amulet. The pendant from the amulet is made of a rare gem called the Mist stone. Nobody can touch her except me because to everyone will see nothing but they might only feel the air being thicker (though to Eerie it will be like being thumped really hard on the head with a steel hammer!). People can only feel her if they had eaten a magical fruit called the Element berry (the hardest fruit to obtain).

She travels with me to distant lands like the planet of Shyneert. Of course, I cannot ride on her, but I hold her hand we whiz off. She especially like to go to Lavender Town (Pokemon reference) and adventure in Lavender Town's Pokemon Tower, where there are ghost Pokemon.

My Imaginary Friend

My imaginary friend is a male fire wolf, his name is Flame. He likes eating magical blue fire and is allergic to water. Flame is protective and plays with me whenever I'm lonely.
What I need to do to call him is whisper, "Flame," then, with a thunder of mixed blue and orange fire, he comes trotting from the air! He's lucky and he's mostly rewarded by luck because of a lucky charm he has  hidden inside his flames/fur that is shaped like a blazing golden four leaf clover. He loves to look at my classical canvas paintings so I've taught him how to paint. At first he got all tangled up but now he can paint beautifully.
If Flame touches anyone, they're burnt. I'm the only one who can touch him without being burnt because of a a special cream called Flame Toucher (I invented it).
Flame is kind-of like a traveling horse because we go to long trips together, sometimes even to the Sydney Opera House. There we don't go inside and listen to the graceful opera but we stay outside till sunset splashing water at each other (even if Flame is allergic to water ) and throwing pebbles far into the sea, sometimes even as far as Antarctica.
Flame can travel even longer distances than a plane so next we went to Mexico in the little city of Chichen Itza to see the Temple of Kukulkan built by the Mayans. We secretly crept inside the temple, though it wasn't so interesting because it just felt that we were going round and round in a maze! On our way out we found some sacred treasure of the Mayans, we didn't take all of it because it belonged to the Temple, but we just took four different pieces as home decoration. We traveled home quickly and Flame had to go back to his unknown place. We said bye to each other and with another crash of fire Flame totally disappeared....

The Adventure of Carlo and King Ricotta! Part 1 The Roman Menace

                                               Introduction:
Once upon a time there lived a king called King Ricotta. His real name is Nicola Ricotta.
He was a rich king with lots of golden coins, but bad news came to the town of Cremona.
The Romans stole money from the Cremonian palace. The king wanted a revenge, so he started war against the Romans.
The leader of the Romans decided not to go to war because King Ricotta said it was a revenge.
King Ricotta wanted war, but they never let him. Ricotta called his men to go and destroy their castle and their soldiers…

"Your majesty, should I get your men ready for battle"? "Yes my son".
His son is Prince Carlo The Brave Ricotta. He also fights in war, but King Ricotta is worried because he doesn't want his son Prince Carlo The Brave Ricotta to die. Josephina The Brave (his mum the queen) wants Carlo to go to war to get all the money from the Roman king Ricardo The Salvador.
Carlo called all the men to get ready on their horses.
They traveled for days and nights to get to Rome, but they soon got there.

Nicola's men started to bomb the castle. It was all obscure black because of all the ash and smoke.
Carlo was in one of the corridors. Ricardo The Salvador was in the same corridor. "Hey you give me all your money"! "No I won't Mr Salvador Dali"! "Ok you have to give me 1000000 euros in 1 week or I will kill your mother and father"! They tried to menace Carlo. He has to do it otherwise Ricardo
will kill his parents. This was a horrible promise that Carlo had to do...

Watch for the summer!

Be careful this summer! Its looking to be quite sunny! Well anyway this talk is for your safety, if it is too hot then stay inside (20 or up) (less likely!) If it is mild but still warm and quite hot is safe, but not without sun cream. You need to ask if you have any sun cream! (18 to 16)If it is lower you'd probably put a little bit of sun cream on! (14 to 12)

This isn't to boss you about but it is to keep you safe because I don't want to hear "I got burnt by the sun!" after the summer holidays and maybe this holiday!

Why stories: Why does an elephant have a long trunk?

Once upon a time elephants did not have trunks; they had no trunks and they couldn't have the fruits from the
tree. So they had to eat whatever they could from the ground which the monkeys threw for them. One day an elephant was gulping water from his mouth when suddenly SNAP! a crocodile bit his nose.

HELP! shouted the elephant. The animals heard it and rushed to help.

They pulled and pulled and pulled and.................

and a long nose came out and the long nose is called the trunk.

Alice vs the Witch Chapter 1

This morning when I woke up I found a letter under my bed and it said:
I ran to the play room, but my favorite toy was not there. In my mind I was imagining what I was going to do to that stinky witch. I planned to poke her in the eye and then smack her on the bum.

“Oh no! What is going to happen to me if I do that to her?!’’ I wondered.

Last time I had been to her palace her soggy, sticky aliens with long, oval noses attacked me, but she said she was going to adopt alien monsters.

While my mum and dad were snoring, I got ready to go on my own to the witch’s palace.
When I arrived, before I put my foot on the patterned carpet, I took a deep breath...

The Journey of the Cheese Sandwich

Warning: There is one murder in this story!

Once upon a time, there was a cheese sandwich. The cheese sandwich was called Cheese, and he was very, very selfish and confident.

One day, he heard a rumour that every cheese sandwich who got this special power got eaten up. The only way to get that power was to say a very bad word. A swear word in fact. The swear word was: Poop. Didn't expect that did you? Well, cheese sandwiches are weird, so just ignore what I wrote. So Cheese said the evil word, "Poop!" and suddenly, he sprouted legs!
"Hmmm! I look handsome!" he said, preening himself.
He quickly got used to his new pair of legs and then, this thing sucked him up. The thing, in fact, was a random croissant with a beard. The croissant was a magical croissant and whenever someone came next to him, he always says, "You shall not pass!". He was very magical indeed.

So the cheese sandwich traveled all the way to our universe, into Earth, and onto a table. Suddenly, a human arrived. He saw Cheese and said, "Ooooooo! A sandwich!", and ate him up.

                                                                  The End

No cheese sandwiches were hurt. Neither were Gandalfs.
